Primary Maths (Ages 5 to 7)
Every child is a unique individual and for that reason the tutoring that we offer is bespoke in nature. Lessons are tailored to the needs of your child and, as such, the information below is intended as a guide only.
At this age, learning is still taking place through lots of play and it is no different in Maths. Our tutors can help your child to develop their Maths skills in a practical hands-on way. They can use everyday objects to help them solve maths problems and to do simple calculations.
Depending on your child’s needs, maths learning with one of our tutors may include: using a number line; adding; subtracting; multiplying; dividing; doubling and halving; developing mental maths skills; learning about 2D and 3D shapes and space; learning their timetables; measuring and weighing; learning to use and count money; telling the time to the hour and half hour and collecting and recording data using lists and tables.
If your son or daughter is in Year 2 at school, our tutors can help them to prepare for their end of Key Stage 1 SAT’s test in Maths.
*Covid-19 update on SATs*
The DfE’s intention is for all Primary end of key stage assessments, including KS1/KS2 SATs, to continue as normal during the 2020/2021 academic year.
